Astrology - A Little Bit Of History ... Astrology probably originated in Mesopotamia about 3000 BC and was used to interpret the will of the gods, as shown by the sky, so that matters of state could be handled according to that will. Astrology linked the gods with human life.
Throughout the ages, it has been mostly used by kings,
the noble classes and military leaders - it was a most highly valued
skill. Kings, great leaders, generals, priests - everybody wanted to
know what the gods were trying to tell them via the planets and the
stars.
It is only in the last few decades that astrology has combined
with psychology to provide the kind of astrology most people are
familiar with today.
But, what happened to the astrology of
old?
Fortunately, there has been a
resurrection of ancient and medieval astrology, which isĀ beginning to restore this ancient treasure trove of wisdom to our modern astrology.
Extensive research and translation
of ancient astrological texts has made this more accessible to modern
astrologers who don't know the old languages.
My favorite ancient
astrologer is Bernadette Brady, who has done pioneering research on the
meaning of fixed stars and who has also brought back the concept of
actually looking at the entire night sky and pulling in the meaning of
the constellations.
Do visit her website - she is outstanding and one
of the world's greatest talents in astrology.
